Covid-19 Alert
SHIPPING INDUSTRY ALERT
Since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic in March of 2020, life has been challenging, to say the least, for people around the globe. Thankfully, the number of cases has significantly dropped in recent months and for the most part, people are getting on with their everyday routines.
Unfortunately, the shipping industry is not back to ‘normal’ and it isn’t projected to be back to ‘normal’ until late in 2023. In addition to dealing with the effects of the Pandemic, we are also dealing with the effects the war in Ukraine had on the industry, rising fuel costs, etc. As a result, the situation in the shipping industry has become severe in many instances.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although most US ports have remained open during the pandemic, the industry as a whole is experiencing severe equipment shortages, a shortage of labor at the ports as well as a tremendous reduction in the availability of truckers throughout the US. In addition, many carriers (steamship lines) are canceling or suspending service to certain areas. At the time of your quote, the carrier was still accepting exports to your destination. That unfortunately could change without the carrier giving much notice. In the event that the carrier your quote was based on discontinues or temporarily suspends services to your destination, we will do our absolute best to re-book the shipping with another carrier if you cannot wait until service is restored. Usually, there are other options but unfortunately, all carriers (steamship lines) have different pricing. In the event that your shipment is affected, all alternative options will be provided to you.
We are fortunate that throughout these uncertain times, we have still been able to accept new clients and have worked diligently to accommodate 80% of their move dates but because the situation changes daily, we do ask that you do not wait until the last minute to book your move and that you are flexible with your dates. We will continue to closely monitor the current conditions.
Stay safe. Stay well.
